The 2nd edition of the novice-friendly event of the ALTRA Shoes will be set at the sister mountain of Mt. Batulao – Mt. Talamitam at Nasugbu, Batangas. Fresh from its tranquil year since the pandemic, there are more attractions established along the trails to explore. Runners of different types will surely enjoy it after the long waiting for a true mountain run race. Short but sweet, thrill yourself through the different peaks of this wondrous mountain.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

  1. Open for all fully vaccinated runners.
  2. If under the age of 18, a written letter of consent from the parent or legal guardian is required.
    3) Must be physically fit and in good health condition.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
The following mandatory equipment must be carried at all times during the race. Random spot checks may be performed at any time, and time penalties or disqualification are imposed for non-compliance depending on severity. Mandatory equipment will be checked during the distribution of race kits.

HOW TO GET THERE:

Via Commute:

Kayrilaw Elementary School is located at Brgy Kayrilaw, Nasugbu, Batangas. Along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, get down at Sitio Bayabasan at Brgy. Aga, Nasugbu, Batangas about 82 KM away from Manila. If you are familiar with Sandari Batulao, Sitio Bayabasan is still 5KM away from it. Take a tricycle at Sitio Bayabasan and tell the driver to bring you to Kayrilaw Elementary School. Its another 2.5KM at the barangay road.

From PITX, Buendia or EDSA Taft, ride a bus going to Nasugbu/ Balayan/ Calatagan, Batangas. Travel time is about 2 hours or more via Gen. Aguinaldo Hi-way passing Tagaytay City. Advise the conductor that you will alight at Sitio Bayabasan going Kayrilaw. Fare is approximately P120 plus P100 for the trike for 3 persons (pre-pandemic). Better if you travel earlier.

If you’re Travelling Via your Own Vehicle: (3 options)

  1. Take Aguinaldo Highway and follow the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway passing Tagaytay City. Once you reach Sitio Bayabasan at Brgy. Aga, turn right going Brgy. Kayrilaw.
  2. Take Aguinaldo Highway, once you reach Twin Lakes, turn right at Amuyong – Kaytitinga Road. Turn Left once you reach Kaytitinga. The road will lead you to Kaytitinga – Magallanes Road but DO NOT turn right on it. Instead, go straight to a barangay road to going Kayrilaw. You will see directional signs going Mt. Talamitam Registration Area.
  3. You can also try using Cavitex. Follow the road going Maragondon then proceed to Magallanes via Kaytitinga – Magallanes Road. Once you reach Kaytitinga, turn right at the Barangay Road going Kayrilaw.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
If you are planning to be in the area the day before the race day (advisable), Runners may choose to:

  1. Set up a tent (bring your own tent) and camp at the grounds of Kayrilaw Elementary School or at the Barangay Hall. But please make sure to break camp before the race briefing (4:30 AM of Dec. 19). Comfort Rooms are available at the school. There are also food stalls available in the vicinity. Mind your own belongings and please respect other runners who are resting.
  2. There are quite a number of hotels and lodging at a reasonable price. Nearest is located at Tagaytay – Mendez area.
    Please take note that SMOKING and DRINKING OF LIQUORS are strictly prohibited inside the school.

The Organizer is deeply embracing the LEAVE NO TRACE POLICY.
As the creed says:
“Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time.”
All RUNNERS are required to embrace the same principle too.

RACE GUIDELINES/ RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Each runner must be self-contained/ self-reliant. Complete with mandatory items. These mandatory items will be checked upon check-in at the starting line.
  2. Mandatory items will be checked also at the finish line for the top ten runners.
  3. There will be NO CUPS and utensils available at the AID STATIONs. Please bring your own cups/ bottles.
  4. No unregistered pacers are allowed.
  5. Littering is strictly prohibited. There will be garbage/ trash bags located at the aid stations. Violation of this rule will mean outright disqualification from the race.
  6. Trails will be clearly marked and marshals will be posted especially on the critical points along the course. All runners should run only on the marked trails. NO SHORTCUTS. Violation means outright disqualification from the race.
  7. At any time, runners must not ride/ get inside a trike. Violation means outright disqualification and a lifetime ban from any Altra races.
  8. Race bibs must be worn in front of each runner.
  9. Trekking poles are allowed to use during the race.
  10. Baggage counter is available at the starting line.
  11. Parking Area is available at the perimeter of the school and within the vicinity of the barangay.
  12. In case a runner decided not to continue with the race, he/ she must call the RD (09189191416) or inform/ proceed to the nearest aid station or marshal. They can wait for the service vehicle or ride a trike at the runner’s expense.
  13. The Race Director reserves the right to modify the course, rules, and regulations under some circumstances for the safety of all runners.
  14. Written Protest should be made within 1 hour after the cut-off time in case there’s a complaint against cheating or violation of rules. A protest fee of P500 will be collected to process the complaint.
  15. The Race Director’s decision is final and non-appealable.
